atracurium + vecuronium is a synergistic combination of two intermediate-acting non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking agents (NMBAs) evaluated in clinical research by Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Both components are small molecule competitive antagonists that work by inhibiting the action of acetylcholine at nicotinic receptors located at the motor endplate of the neuromuscular junction. The combination, specifically studied as a 1:1 ratio of half-doses (0.25 mg/kg atracurium and 0.04 mg/kg vecuronium), is designed to extend the duration of neuromuscular blockade to approximately 54 minutes. This approach aims to provide a more efficient relaxation profile for laparoscopic procedures lasting about an hour, where individual intermediate-acting agents may have an insufficient duration of action but where long-acting agents might be difficult to reverse.
