Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ATX101 is an investigational, non-opioid, ultra-sustained-release local anesthetic implant developed by Allay Therapeutics for the management of acute post-operative pain, specifically following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The product consists of bupivacaine, a well-characterized sodium channel blocker, integrated into a proprietary biopolymer-based matrix. This dissolvable implant is designed to be placed at the surgical site during closure, where it provides continuous, localized pain relief for up to three weeks as the polymer gradually degrades into water and carbon dioxide. ATX101 is currently in Phase 2 clinical development in the United States and Phase 1/2 in Japan in collaboration with Maruishi Pharmaceutical.
