Investigational autologous cell therapy developed by the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS) for the treatment of mandibular fractures. The therapy utilizes mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from the patient's own adipose tissue, which are harvested 24 hours prior to the surgical procedure. During the surgery for fracture reduction, these autologous mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) are applied directly to the fracture site. The primary mechanism of action is to promote bone regeneration and neoformation, thereby reducing healing time and improving the quality of the resulting bone. Results from a Phase 3 clinical trial (NCT02755922) indicated a significantly higher ossification rate in patients treated with AMSCs compared to those receiving standard surgical reduction alone.
