Overview

This investigational cell therapy, developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in collaboration with the Minsk Scientific-Practical Center for Surgery, Transplantation and Hematology, utilizes autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for the treatment of trophic ulcers. The therapy involves harvesting MSCs from the patient's own adipose tissue, which are then processed and injected both around and directly into the non-healing wound. These cells function by secreting a variety of trophic factors, including growth factors and cytokines, which facilitate wound healing by promoting angiogenesis, modulating the immune response, and stimulating tissue regeneration. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials to assess its safety and efficacy as an adjunct to standard wound care.
