AMSCs + PRP is an experimental, autologous cell-based biologic therapy being investigated for the treatment of severe knee osteoarthritis. It consists of autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AMSCs) suspended in autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The therapy is administered via intra-articular injection directly into the knee joint. The mechanism of action involves the regenerative and immunomodulatory effects of the AMSCs, which are supported by the growth factors and bioactive proteins contained within the PRP carrier. This combination aims to repair damaged cartilage and reduce inflammation in the joint tissues. It is currently being evaluated in a Phase II clinical study (NCT04212728) by Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital.
