This investigational autologous cell therapy, developed by the Mayo Clinic, utilizes adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (AMSCs) to prevent biliary complications in patients undergoing living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). The cells are harvested from the patient's own fat tissue, processed, and then applied directly to the biliary anastomosis site during the transplant surgery.
