Overview

Adistem's autologous adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a cell therapy product derived from a patient's own fat tissue. The process involves harvesting adipose tissue via liposuction, isolating the SVF—a heterogeneous population of cells including mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, and leukocytes—and then 'photo-activating' these cells using Adistem's proprietary low-level laser technology. In the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, the activated SVF is administered intravenously with the goal of utilizing the cells' immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties to suppress the autoimmune response against pancreatic beta cells, thereby preserving endogenous insulin production and potentially improving glycemic control.
