Autologous adipose-derived stromal vascular fraction (SVF) is a multicomponent cell therapy derived from a patient's own fat tissue, containing a mixture of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), endothelial progenitor cells, pericytes, and various immune cells. Developed by Kasiak Research for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), the therapy is administered intravenously with the aim of leveraging the regenerative and immunomodulatory properties of the SVF. Once in the circulation, these cells are believed to home to the damaged lung parenchyma, where they secrete paracrine factors that inhibit pro-fibrotic signaling pathways, reduce chronic inflammation, and promote tissue repair. This approach seeks to address the high unmet need in IPF by potentially slowing or reversing the progressive scarring of lung tissue.
