Overview

Autologous bone marrow-derived CD133+ cells is an investigational cell therapy developed by the Royan Institute for the treatment of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). The therapy utilizes CD133+ hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells isolated from the patient's own bone marrow. These cells are delivered via injection into the necrotic site of the femoral head, typically in conjunction with core decompression surgery. The therapeutic rationale is that these cells promote angiogenesis and osteogenesis, facilitating the restoration of blood supply and bone regeneration in the ischemic tissue.
