Autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) is an experimental cell therapy developed by the El-Rayadh Fertility Centre for the treatment of premature ovarian failure (POF), also known as primary ovarian insufficiency. The therapeutic process involves the aspiration of approximately 60 ml of bone marrow from the patient, followed by the isolation and expansion of MSCs in a culture medium containing autologous serum under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) conditions. Approximately 3 to 5 million characterized stem cells are then injected directly into the patient's ovarian tissue. The treatment aims to restore endocrine and reproductive functions of the ovaries by potentially differentiating into germ cells or through paracrine signaling that promotes tissue repair and follicle maturation in women under the age of 40.
