Overview
This autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell (BM-MSC) therapy is being developed by Stem Cells Arabia for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. The treatment involves the extraction of a patient's own bone marrow, followed by the purification and expansion of specific stem cell populations. These cells are then re-administered to the patient via intravenous injection for systemic immunomodulatory effects and direct intra-articular transplantation into affected joints to promote tissue regeneration. The therapy aims to reduce the chronic inflammation of the synovial tissue and repair damage to cartilage, bone, and ligaments characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis. A Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT03067870) was initiated in Jordan to evaluate the safety and efficacy of this regenerative medicine approach.
