Autologous bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) plus autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a combination cell therapy developed by Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital for the treatment of severe knee osteoarthritis. The therapeutic process involves aspirating bone marrow from the patient's iliac crest to isolate and culture BMSCs. Simultaneously, PRP is prepared from the patient's peripheral blood through centrifugation. The cultured BMSCs are then suspended in the PRP and administered via intra-articular injection. This treatment leverages the regenerative and immunomodulatory properties of mesenchymal stem cells alongside the concentrated growth factors found in PRP to promote cartilage repair, reduce inflammation, and improve joint function in patients with degenerative joint disease.
