Autologous bone marrow-derived stem cells (BMSC) developed by MD Stem Cells are a cell therapy intervention for the treatment of spinal cord injury (SCI). The process involves the extraction of bone marrow from the patient's iliac crest, followed by concentration of the cellular fraction—which includes mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs)—and subsequent re-injection into the patient via intravenous, intrathecal, or intranasal routes. The therapeutic rationale is based on the cells' ability to migrate to the site of injury, release neurotrophic factors, modulate the inflammatory response, and promote axonal sprouting or remyelination. In clinical trials, this biological treatment is often integrated with intensive physical therapy using robotic exoskeletons and virtual reality training to maximize functional neuro-rehabilitation.
