Overview

Autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNC) developed by TotipotentRX Cell Therapy are an investigational cell therapy product for the treatment of acute myocardial infarction (AMI). The therapy involves harvesting bone marrow from the patient, which is then processed using a proprietary point-of-care device to concentrate the mononuclear cell fraction. These concentrated cells are delivered via intracoronary infusion shortly after the patient has undergone primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The therapeutic rationale is based on the ability of BMMNCs to migrate to the site of injury and release various cytokines and growth factors. This paracrine signaling is intended to promote angiogenesis, reduce apoptosis in the peri-infarct myocardium, and modulate the inflammatory response, ultimately aiming to improve left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and reduce the size of the myocardial infarct.
