Overview

This investigational autologous cell therapy involves the isolation and selection of CD133+ hematopoietic stem cells from a patient's own bone marrow. Developed and studied at the National Cardiovascular Center Harapan Kita Hospital in Indonesia, the therapy is specifically designed for patients with coronary artery disease and heart failure (low ejection fraction) who are undergoing coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The cells are administered via transepicardial and transseptal injection during the surgical procedure. The primary mechanism of action is thought to be myocardial regeneration and the promotion of angiogenesis through the increased expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and other paracrine growth factors, which aim to improve myocardial perfusion and cardiac function.
