Overview

Autologous CD1c (BDCA-1)+ myDC is a personalized cell therapy consisting of a patient's own (autologous) conventional type 2 dendritic cells, specifically those expressing the surface marker CD1c, also known as BDCA-1. These cells are isolated from the patient via leukapheresis and immunomagnetic bead selection, then injected intratumorally or intracranially depending on the indication. The primary mechanism involves these dendritic cells capturing tumor antigens in vivo and presenting them to T-cells, thereby initiating or reinvigorating an anti-tumor immune response. This approach has been investigated primarily in patients with advanced melanoma refractory to standard therapies and in recurrent glioblastoma following surgical resection. The therapy is often studied in combination with other immunotherapies such as checkpoint inhibitors (ipilimumab, nivolumab), oncolytic viruses (T-VEC), or adjuvants (AS01B). Early-phase clinical trials have demonstrated feasibility, safety, and encouraging signs of antitumor activity[1][5][6].
