This autologous cell therapy is a combination treatment modality developed and investigated by Dr. Grant M. Pagdin for the treatment of osteoarthritis in major joints, including the knee, hip, and shoulder. The therapy involves the harvesting and concentrated re-injection of a patient's own biological materials: platelet-rich plasma (PRP), lipoaspirate (containing adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells), and bone marrow aspirate concentrate (containing bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells). Classified as an autologous cell therapy product (ACTP) by Health Canada, the treatment aims to deliver a high concentration of mesenchymal stem cells and growth factors directly to the affected joint. These components are intended to modulate the local inflammatory environment, reduce pain, improve joint function, and potentially facilitate tissue regeneration. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase II randomized clinical trial (NCT03984461) conducted by Pagdin Health in Kelowna, British Columbia.
