Autologous dendritic cell + autologous tumor cell antigens vaccine (DC-ATA) is a personalized, cell-based cancer immunotherapy developed by AIVITA Biomedical. The vaccine is produced by isolating a patient's own dendritic cells and loading them ex vivo with antigens derived from the patient's own tumor-initiating (stem-like) cells, which are expanded in culture. The resulting product is suspended in granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and administered via subcutaneous injection. This approach is designed to prime the patient's immune system, specifically T lymphocytes, to recognize and eliminate cancer stem cells that are typically resistant to standard chemotherapy and radiation. The platform has been investigated in clinical trials for various solid tumors, including glioblastoma (AV-GBM-1), metastatic melanoma (AV-MEL-1), ovarian cancer (AV-OV-2), and hepatocellular carcinoma (AV-HCC-1).
