This autologous dendritic cell vaccine is a cellular immunotherapy developed by the Fundacion Clinic per a la Recerca Biomédica (FCRB) for the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). The vaccine is prepared by isolating a patient's own dendritic cells and pulsing them ex vivo with autologous tumor antigens derived from the patient's own tumor tissue. Once re-administered, these antigen-loaded dendritic cells function as professional antigen-presenting cells, activating the patient's immune system to generate a specific cytotoxic T-cell response against colorectal cancer cells. It has been investigated in a randomized Phase II clinical trial (NCT01413295) as a third-line treatment for patients with progressive stage IV colorectal cancer who have failed standard chemotherapy lines.
