The autologous dendritic cell vaccine developed by Instituto Oncológico Dr Rosell is an individualized biologic therapy designed for the treatment of extensive-stage small cell lung cancer (ES-SCLC). The vaccine is produced by harvesting a patient's own dendritic cells via leukapheresis and pulsing them with irradiated autologous tumor cell lysate. This process allows the dendritic cells to present a broad spectrum of patient-specific tumor-associated antigens. When re-administered intradermally, these mature dendritic cells stimulate the immune system to mount a targeted T-cell response against the tumor. It is currently being evaluated in Phase Ib/II clinical trials as a maintenance therapy in combination with the checkpoint inhibitor atezolizumab following standard induction chemotherapy.
