An autologous dendritic cell-based immunotherapy developed by IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori (IRST) 'Dino Amadori' for the treatment of glioblastoma. The vaccine is produced by isolating CD14+ monocytes from the patient via leukapheresis, differentiating them into dendritic cells using GM-CSF and IL-4, and then pulsing them with autologous tumor homogenate derived from the patient's surgically resected glioblastoma tissue. These cells are matured with a cytokine cocktail (TNFα, IL-1β, IL-6, and PGE2) before being administered intradermally. The goal is to stimulate a cytotoxic T lymphocyte response against a broad spectrum of patient-specific tumor antigens. It is currently being evaluated in the Phase II CombiG-Vax trial in combination with standard temozolomide chemotherapy.
