Overview

This is a personalized cancer immunotherapy in which a patient's own (autologous) dendritic cells are harvested, then ex vivo loaded with tumor-associated antigens—specifically mRNA encoding melanoma-associated antigen A3 (MAGE-A3), MelanA (also known as MART-1), and survivin. The resulting vaccine is designed to stimulate the patient’s immune system to recognize and attack cancer cells expressing these antigens. Dendritic cell vaccines work by presenting tumor antigens to T-cells, thereby inducing a targeted cytotoxic immune response against the tumor. This approach has been investigated primarily for metastatic melanoma but may have broader applications in other cancers expressing these antigens[2][3][4].
