Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This autologous idiotype vaccine is a personalized immunotherapy developed by Icon Genetics for the treatment of relapsed follicular lymphoma. The vaccine is produced using the company's proprietary "magnifection" technology, which involves the transient expression of patient-specific immunoglobulin (idiotype) proteins in *Nicotiana benthamiana* plants. This plant-based expression system allows for the rapid and scalable production of individualized antigens, which are then purified and administered to the patient, typically alongside an adjuvant like GM-CSF. The mechanism of action involves stimulating the patient's immune system to recognize and attack the unique clonal B-cell receptors (idiotypes) present on the surface of their specific follicular lymphoma cells, thereby providing a highly targeted anti-tumor effect.
