Overview

This autologous cell therapy combination consists of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs). Developed by Jianming Tan at Fuzhou General Hospital, the treatment is designed for patients with osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). MSCs are utilized for their immunosuppressive and tissue-repairing properties, while BMMNCs are included for their ability to promote revascularization (angiogenesis). The therapeutic approach involves the expansion and subsequent infusion of these autologous cells into the necrotic area of the femoral head to stimulate bone regeneration and restore blood supply, potentially halting or reversing the progression of the disease.
