Overview

Autologous NK cell therapy (Southwest Hospital) is an investigational adoptive cell immunotherapy developed for the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The therapeutic process involves isolating natural killer (NK) cells from a patient's own peripheral blood, followed by ex vivo expansion and activation to enhance their cytotoxic potential. Once re-infused into the patient, these activated NK cells are capable of identifying and eliminating malignant cells through the release of cytotoxic granules containing perforin and granzymes, as well as through the induction of apoptosis via death receptor pathways. In clinical research conducted at Southwest Hospital in China, this cell therapy is evaluated in combination with standard platinum-based chemotherapy (paclitaxel and carboplatin) to investigate potential synergistic effects in improving objective response rates and progression-free survival in patients with advanced NSCLC.
