Overview

This therapy is a combination of two types of immune effector cells—autologous natural killer (NK) cells and autologous T-lymphocytes—derived from the patient's own blood. Both cell types are expanded or activated ex vivo and then reinfused into the patient as a form of adoptive cell therapy. The mechanism involves leveraging both innate (NK cell) and adaptive (T-cell) immune responses to target cancer or other diseases. NK cells can recognize and kill tumor cells that have lost HLA-I expression, which often allows them to evade cytotoxic T lymphocyte surveillance, while T-lymphocytes can specifically target tumor antigens presented on HLA molecules[1][2]. This dual approach aims to overcome mechanisms of tumor escape from single-cell-type immunotherapies.
