Drug intelligence / Profile preview
BioTears is a personalized ophthalmic treatment consisting of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) eye drops. These drops are prepared by drawing a patient's own blood, centrifuging it to concentrate the platelets, and then formulating the resulting plasma into a topical solution. PRP contains a high concentration of endogenous growth factors (such as TGF-β, PDGF, and EGF) and cytokines that promote corneal epithelial healing, reduce inflammation, and improve the ocular surface microenvironment. It is primarily used for the treatment of severe dry eye disease, persistent epithelial defects, and other ocular surface disorders where conventional artificial tears are insufficient. As an autologous product, it minimizes the risk of immunological reactions or transmission of infectious diseases.
