Autologous serum (AS) eye drops are a blood-derived therapeutic used primarily for the treatment of severe dry eye syndrome and other ocular surface disorders. They are produced by collecting a patient's own blood, allowing it to clot, and then centrifuging it to separate the serum, which is subsequently diluted (often to 20% or 50%) with sterile saline or artificial tears.
