Autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) developed by Shanghai OriginCell Therapeutics are an adoptive cell therapy being investigated for the treatment of recurrent and refractory non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The therapeutic process involves the surgical resection of a patient's tumor tissue to isolate naturally occurring T cells that have already infiltrated the tumor microenvironment. These cells are then expanded to large quantities ex vivo in a specialized manufacturing facility using growth factors like interleukin-2 (IL-2). Once expanded, the polyclonal TIL population—which is capable of recognizing a diverse array of patient-specific tumor neoantigens—is re-infused into the patient following a lymphodepleting chemotherapy regimen. This approach aims to overcome tumor heterogeneity and provide a robust, personalized anti-tumor immune response.
