TIL + IL2 is an experimental adjuvant adoptive cell therapy regimen developed by Nantes University Hospital for the treatment of stage III melanoma. The therapy involves the ex vivo expansion of autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) harvested from a patient's resected lymph node. These expanded TILs are then re-infused into the patient alongside low-dose subcutaneous interleukin-2 (IL-2, aldesleukin) to promote T-cell survival and proliferation. Unlike many TIL protocols, this specific regimen does not utilize pre-infusion lymphodepletion. A Phase III trial (NCT00200577) evaluated this combination in patients with a single positive lymph node following surgery, though it failed to demonstrate a statistically significant improvement in disease-free survival compared to observation.
