Overview

Autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are an adoptive cell therapy being developed by the Women's Hospital School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, for the treatment of advanced or metastatic refractory gynecological and breast cancers. The therapeutic process involves the surgical resection of a patient's tumor tissue, from which naturally occurring T cells that have infiltrated the tumor are isolated. These TILs are then activated and expanded to large numbers ex vivo. Following a non-myeloablative lymphodepletion chemotherapy regimen, the expanded TILs are reinfused into the patient, typically accompanied by interleukin-2 (IL-2) to promote T-cell persistence and anti-tumor activity. This approach aims to provide a personalized, polyclonal T-cell population capable of recognizing a broad array of tumor-specific neoantigens and mediating tumor cell lysis.
