The autologous tumor lysate-pulsed dendritic cell vaccine developed by Roswell Park Cancer Institute is an experimental cellular immunotherapy designed for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The production process involves harvesting a patient's peripheral blood mononuclear cells to generate dendritic cells, which are then matured and "pulsed" with a lysate derived from the patient's own surgically resected tumor. This lysate contains a diverse array of autologous tumor-associated antigens. When administered intradermally, these antigen-presenting cells migrate to lymph nodes and activate cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, aiming to establish a systemic anti-tumor immune response to eliminate residual disease and prevent recurrence in patients with operable stage IB-IIIA NSCLC.
