Overview

A personalized cancer immunotherapy consisting of autologous dendritic cells (DCs) pulsed with tumor lysate antigens derived from the patient's own resected tumor tissue, administered in combination with poly-ICLC (a TLR3 agonist). The dendritic cells are harvested from the patient's blood, matured, and "pulsed" with the tumor lysate to present a broad spectrum of patient-specific tumor antigens. Poly-ICLC acts as a molecular adjuvant to enhance the immune response by mimicking viral RNA and activating Toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) and MDA5, thereby promoting DC maturation and T-cell activation. This combination is being developed by the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCLA for the treatment of malignant gliomas, including glioblastoma multiforme.
