Overview
Avanafil + enalapril is a combination of two small molecule pharmaceutical drugs, each with distinct mechanisms and indications. Avanafil is a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in adult males. It works by selectively inhibiting PDE5, leading to increased levels of cGMP in the corpus cavernosum during sexual stimulation, resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and enhanced blood flow to the penis[3][4][6][8]. Enalapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor prodrug indicated for hypertension and congestive heart failure. After hepatic conversion to its active metabolite enalaprilat, it inhibits ACE within the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system (RAAS), reducing angiotensin II production, causing vasodilation and decreased blood pressure[1][2][5]. There are no known fixed-dose combinations or approved products containing both agents together; this entry describes their pharmacology if co-administered.
