avanafil + tamsulosin

**Avanafil + tamsulosin** is a combination of two small molecule drugs, avanafil, a phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor, and tamsulosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor antagonist. Avanafil is indicated for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men by increasing blood flow to the penis via inhibition of PDE5, which increases cyclic GMP, leading to smooth muscle relaxation in the corpus cavernosum. Tamsulosin is indicated primarily for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), where it works by blocking alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in the prostate and bladder neck, relaxing smooth muscle and improving urine flow. This combination is not marketed as a fixed-dose product but could be prescribed concomitantly in clinical practice. Coadministration requires caution due to the risk of additive hypotensive effects. Both drugs are taken orally, but they are not formulated as a fixed combination medication and there is no brand name for the combined use.
