Overview

Avelumab + carboplatin + paclitaxel is a combination regimen comprising **avelumab** (a human anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibody checkpoint inhibitor), **carboplatin** (a platinum-based chemotherapy agent), and **paclitaxel** (a microtubule-stabilizing chemotherapeutic). Avelumab binds and inhibits PD-L1, thereby enhancing anti-tumor immune responses. Carboplatin induces DNA cross-linking leading to apoptosis. Paclitaxel promotes G2/M cell-cycle arrest and apoptosis by stabilizing microtubules. This combination is investigated as first-line therapy for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, where avelumab is given concurrently with chemotherapy and as subsequent maintenance, with funding and development led by Pfizer.
