Avelumab is a human monoclonal antibody targeting PD-L1, functioning as an immune checkpoint inhibitor that blocks the interaction between PD-L1 and its receptors, thereby enhancing T-cell-mediated antitumor immune responses. Osimertinib is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that selectively targets mutant forms of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), including those with T790M mutations, which are common in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The combination of avelumab and osimertinib has not been widely studied or approved as a standard regimen for any indication. However, both drugs have shown efficacy in NSCLC and other cancers when used alone or in other combinations[3][5][8]. There is no evidence from major clinical trials specifically evaluating the safety or efficacy of this exact combination.
