Overview

Axitinib + paclitaxel is a combination of two pharmaceutical agents used in oncology clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors. Axitinib is a potent and selective second-generation small molecule inhibitor of vascular endothelial growth factor receptors (VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, VEGFR-3), blocking angiogenesis and tumor growth. Paclitaxel is a microtubule-stabilizing agent that binds to the β subunit of tubulin, preventing microtubule disassembly and thereby inhibiting cell division and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. The combination has been studied for safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and antitumor activity in patients with advanced solid tumors[1][2]. Axitinib is developed by Pfizer and marketed as Inlyta; paclitaxel is marketed as Taxol.
