Azadirachta indica leaves extract + salicylic acid

This experimental topical ointment is a combination therapy consisting of an ethanol extract of *Azadirachta indica* (neem) leaves and 6% salicylic acid. Developed by researchers at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, it is specifically investigated for the treatment of palmar arsenical keratosis, a condition caused by chronic exposure to arsenic-contaminated drinking water. The salicylic acid component serves as a keratolytic agent to soften and remove hyperkeratotic tissue, while the neem extract is believed to provide anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits. Clinical studies have demonstrated that the combination significantly reduces the size of keratotic nodules compared to salicylic acid monotherapy, showing approximately 79% improvement over a 12-week treatment period.
