Overview

A combination therapy consisting of azathioprine, an immunosuppressive agent, and danazol, a synthetic androgen. This combination has been used in the treatment of autoimmune conditions, particularly immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. Azathioprine acts as an immunosuppressant by interfering with DNA synthesis in rapidly dividing cells, including immune cells. Danazol works by regulating hormone levels and may have immunomodulatory effects, including decreasing IgG, IgM, and IgA concentrations, as well as phospholipid and IgG isotope autoantibodies.
