Overview

AZD7986 + diltiazem is an experimental combination of two drugs: **AZD7986** (also known as brensocatib or INS1007), a selective oral inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1), and **diltiazem**, a calcium channel blocker used mainly for hypertension, angina, and some arrhythmias. AZD7986 acts by inhibiting DPP1, leading to reduced activation of neutrophil serine proteases and potential benefit in neutrophil-driven inflammatory diseases such as COPD. Diltiazem inhibits L-type calcium channels, reducing myocardial contractility and vascular tone, and is often evaluated in drug-drug interaction studies for its effects on CYP3A4-mediated metabolism. This combination has been studied in the context of drug-drug interaction clinical trials, not as a therapeutic co-formulation[1][2][4].
