Overview

AZD7986 + verapamil is an investigational drug combination studied primarily for pharmacokinetic interactions in healthy volunteers. AZD7986 is a selective inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase 1 (DPP1), which regulates activation of neutrophil serine proteases and is being developed for neutrophil-driven inflammatory diseases such as COPD. Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker, widely used as an antihypertensive and antiarrhythmic agent. The combination has been used in phase 1 studies to investigate the pharmacokinetics and potential drug-drug interactions of AZD7986 when coadministered with verapamil[1][2].
