Overview

Azeflu is a fixed-dose combination nasal spray containing azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate. It is primarily indicated for the symptomatic treatment of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis in patients who require both an antihistamine and a corticosteroid for symptom control. Azelastine is a second-generation H1-receptor antagonist that provides rapid relief of nasal symptoms by blocking histamine H1 receptors and inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators. Fluticasone propionate is a synthetic corticosteroid that exerts potent anti-inflammatory effects by binding to glucocorticoid receptors, thereby reducing mucosal edema and inflammatory cell infiltration. This combination therapy is designed to provide superior efficacy compared to either component used alone by addressing both the immediate and late-phase allergic responses.
