A fixed-dose combination nasal spray containing azelastine hydrochloride and fluticasone propionate, developed as a generic alternative to the reference product Dymista. Azelastine is a second-generation histamine H1-receptor antagonist that provides rapid relief of allergic symptoms by competing with free histamine for binding at receptor sites and inhibiting the release of inflammatory mediators. Fluticasone propionate is a potent synthetic corticosteroid that activates glucocorticoid receptors, leading to the downregulation of inflammatory cytokines and multiple cell types involved in the allergic response. Developed by Perrigo (now Padagis), this combination therapy is indicated for the management of symptoms associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis in patients who require treatment with both an antihistamine and a corticosteroid.
