azilsartan medoxomil + levoamlodipine

azilsartan medoxomil + levoamlodipine is a combination drug consisting of azilsartan medoxomil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and levoamlodipine, a calcium channel blocker (CCB). Azilsartan medoxomil is a prodrug hydrolyzed to azilsartan, which selectively antagonizes the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor, leading to vasodilation, decreased aldosterone secretion, and reduced blood pressure. Levoamlodipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, reducing calcium influx and causing vasodilation. The combination acts synergistically to lower blood pressure more effectively than monotherapy, as observed in clinical hypertension studies when azilsartan medoxomil is combined with amlodipine.
