A combination therapy consisting of azithromycin (a macrolide antibiotic) and methylprednisolone (a synthetic glucocorticoid). This combination is primarily used for treating refractory Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (RMPP), particularly in children. Azithromycin works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, while methylprednisolone suppresses immune and inflammatory responses. Together, they effectively mitigate clinical symptoms, regulate inflammatory factors, and improve cellular immune dysfunction in RMPP patients. The combination has also been studied for use in COVID-19 treatment.
