Overview

A combination antibiotic regimen consisting of aztreonam, a monobactam antibiotic effective against gram-negative bacteria, and teicoplanin, a glycopeptide antibiotic effective against gram-positive bacteria. This combination provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial coverage. Aztreonam inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin binding protein 3 (PBP3), while teicoplanin inhibits peptidoglycan polymerization. The combination has been studied for treating infections in immunocompromised patients, particularly those with leukemia and septicemia.
