This drug is a combination of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) and isoniazid. BCG is a live attenuated vaccine derived from Mycobacterium bovis, primarily used for tuberculosis prevention and as an intravesical immunotherapy for superficial bladder cancer. Isoniazid is a small molecule antibiotic that acts as a first-line agent in the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis by inhibiting mycolic acid synthesis in mycobacterial cell walls. The combination may be considered in certain clinical or research contexts related to tuberculosis exposure or management, but coadministration can result in reduced efficacy of BCG due to the antimycobacterial activity of isoniazid against BCG organisms[3][1]. There are no standard guidelines supporting routine use of this combination; indeed, concurrent use should generally be avoided except under special circumstances.
