This is an investigational fully human B-cell activating factor receptor (BAFF-R) targeted chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy being developed by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital in China. The therapy involves genetically engineering a patient's own T-cells to express a CAR targeting BAFF-R, a receptor expressed on the surface of mature B-cells and most B-cell malignancies. BAFF-R is a critical survival factor for B-cells, making it an attractive target for patients who have relapsed or are refractory to CD19-targeted therapies. The therapy is currently being evaluated in a Phase I/II clinical trial for a variety of B-cell malignancies, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), follicular lymphoma, mantle cell lymphoma, Waldenström macroglobulinemia, and marginal zone lymphoma. The study assesses safety, tolerability, and efficacy, utilizing a fludarabine and cyclophosphamide preconditioning regimen prior to infusion.
