Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Balcinrenone + dapagliflozin is a fixed-dose oral combination therapy under clinical development for the treatment of heart failure, chronic kidney disease (CKD), and proteinuria. Balcinrenone (also known as AZD9977) is a novel selective mineralocorticoid receptor modulator designed to provide cardio-renal benefits with a reduced risk of hyperkalaemia compared to traditional mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists. Dapagliflozin is an SGLT2 inhibitor that lowers blood glucose by inhibiting renal glucose reabsorption and has established cardiovascular and renal protective effects. The combination aims to deliver complementary and additive protection for both kidney and heart function, particularly in patients with impaired renal function or at high risk of disease progression[3][4][5][6][7].
